Gavao GA-82TL-1
Brief History
Like previous Samsung replacement circuits, designing and manufacturing of chips for functional copies of each type of new calculators continued in China from the 1990s. A copy of the TL version of the Casio’s school scientific series fx-82 was also made and later replaced with a version with higher internal accuracy than the original. Several manufacturers have also created clones that match the shape and color of the original device, and they have appeared under numerous brands. Their type number consisted of two letters referring to the branding used and then the suffix “82TL”. For example, the Gavao version is GA-82TL, the Joinus is JS-82TL and the Taksun is TS-82TL. Over the years, their internal structure has been constantly changing, replacing the one large printed circuit board with the smaller one with the chip, and a foil PCB for the keyboard, which is held rigidly by a plastic backing. Unfortunately, the glued foil cables connecting the display — and in later versions, the keyboard — release over time, and the covers of the machines break very easily, so most of these types of clones have become completely unusable.
