Olympia 55-20
Brief History
In addition to distributing calculators manufactured by the partner company Matsushita in Japan, the French subsidiary of Olympia International also imported OEM machines of some Japanese, Korean and Hong Kong manufacturers exclusively to the French market. The 55 series of calculators, imported in 1982 and manufactured in South Korea, made with NEC circuits, were therefore only produced with French labeling. Since the machines were made with circuits produced in millions, their functions are identical to some models of different manufacturers even often found in popular catalog stores. The 55-10 was an eight-digit, four-function machine with a non-volatile memory (functionally identical to Triumph/Adler L815, or the Matsushita/Panasonic 351 models); the 55-20 is a more sophisticated scientific-statistical calculator (functionally identical to the Matsushita-made Aristo M800 or the Matsushita/Panasonic JE-1431 models): its two shift keys indicate the large number of available functions.
