Homeland 801
Brief History
In the pocket calculator range of the Japanese office machine trading subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, under the brand name Homeland, you can find the most diverse machines from contemporary domestic manufacturers. Type 801 is one of the first: the operation of the machine manufactured by TEAL (Tokyo Electronic Appliances Laboratory) is conventional, but its design is not: in the small calculator, the display, which should be placed as high as possible, was placed between the two batteries, and moreover, it is connected via an intermediate printed circuit board. The machine's keyboard also differs from most contemporary models: it has a conductive rubber membrane design that was dominant later and still today. This calculator model was marketed by several companies worldwide under several brands; the best known of these is the American Craig 4521.
