Casio Mini CM-604
Brief History
Launched in 1972, the first truly inexpensive Japanese pocket calculator designed for households, the Casio MINI, has been a great success worldwide. Its development did not stop, and as competition with similar machines emerged, more and more usable models introduced: the CM-604 version, released in late 1973, was almost the same as normal calculators except for its six-digit display. The price of the machine has also been reduced: instead of the 12,800 yen that was valid from the beginning, it cost only 8,900 yen. The following year, some MINI variations were manufactured, but slowly the price of eight-digit machines fell so much that, with a few exceptions, it was not worth making six-digit machines.
