Texas Instruments TI-2500 Datamath

Brief History
Texas Instruments was the leader in semiconductor technology, so made integrated circuits for use in calculators since the end of the 1960s. In 1971 was developed the first IC which contatins all of required functionality except the display drivers. Bowmar corporation developed the first pocket calculator in September 1971 used this component and became a big success. Texas Instruments renounced its principles and begun manufacturing complete calculators. For this purpose, special circuits were developed to ensure Texas' leading position in this segment. In the summer of 1972 the first series were in production of the TI-2500 model named Datamath.

To an average user Datamath was much easier to use because its algebraic logic compared to other calculators of these days which utilizes arithmetic logic, and because of low price, became very popular. Datamath has some variations over the years, production was started in Europe too, Texas continued producing calculator chips to other manufacturers. Bowmar, Texas' biggest competitor in this time, was not able to do these.
