Bowmar MX-140

Brief History
With started production of cheap scientific calculator, or "electronic slide rule" circuits, Bowmar created its own model in the Brain series in 1974. After the first MX-100 model, based on MOS Technologies' professional purpose ICs MX-140 was developed, which exceeded its predecessor in 10+2 digit capacity, exponential notation and managing parentheses.

The Bowmar Brain MX-140 with Continental brand is a curiosity, because it was of the last series produced with Bowmar name in Mexico. As Bowmar didn't able to launch the semiconductor plant, surviving this industry segment became hopeless. At last chance, Bowmar decided to sell the entire production of calculators and watches to International Fastener Research Corporation in June 1975, who soon passed it to Continental Microsystems. The company tried to make other products more popular with Bowmar brand, what Bowmar Corporation complained. Lawsuit was won by Bowmar, but Continental had stopped further development and production of calculators due to falling prices and uneconomical production.

This model was produced in 1974 under the name TK-835 by Híradástechnika Szövetkezet in Hungary too.
